I have a '98 RK. Bought it last September. I put Python pipes, a SC air cleaner and a Power Commander on it. BIG difference except now it seems that the idle is not consistant. I'll start it and let it warm up, the idle will eventually drop to about 900. I'll start riding and when I stop, I can notice that the idle is increasing. Yesterday, it had idled down, then was up to 1600rpm and never went below that, even after stopping the bike for about an hour and then riding home. I thought I saw something somewhere about the PC, that you need to unplug something for 15 minutes but now I can't find it. My other hunch is that since this bike is 8 years old, maybe the sensors need to be checked.

The sensors are probably fine. Since you've installed the Power Commander, you should probably re-set both the warm and cold idles. Once that is done, re-set the TPS value on the PC to zero.

I didn't find it under stepping motor although two people suggested that. In any case I got one and installed it and the problem is solved. Rather awkward gettin' the little bugger out and I refused to pull the tank. Made myself some tools and goter' done. In case anyone is interested, I'll be glad to tell you how I did it. Thanks to all and they just opened a Tuning Center locally so before too long I'll send it through. In the meantime, I'll throw the laptop back on it and follow Uncle Peepers suggestion.
