Iv got a 2002 roadking with the stock rear suspenstion. \\; Today i was checking the PSI and shock oil started spraying out of the vaulve stem and read 0 PSI. \\; I have filled them up again but it seems to be loosing preasure quick. \\; This was a used bike and is only the second time filling them up. \\; I have never put them over 25PSI. \\; Does this sound like a leak in the airlines or does it sound like a ruptured shock. If ruptured what are some good after market suspenstion ideas. \\;
 \\;
Thanks
pete
If it's coming out of the valve stem, it could just be a bad schrader core, or it could be loose. Some of the old valve stem caps used to be able to tighten them up.
 \\; If not, you can purchase one (Wal-mart,etc...)
 \\; You don't want to loose to much oil.
do you know where the leak is?? I would suggest mix up some soap and water spray on joint, shock boot ect and see where it is leaking from and take it from there. my .02
there is no noticeable leak by the eye..the oil sprayed out when checking the PSI..it bassicly sprayed out when the stem was pushed in..i did the soap and water trick and couldnt find anything. The PSI is def dropping in someway..in the past 3 days it went from 25psi to 9psi to 0psi. the oil spraying out of the stem makes me think the shock it self has ruptured. What are some after market or upgraded shocks you guys are running?
Been doing that everytime I would check and\\or adjust air pressure on both the Front and Rear Shoclk on the 01 RKC since it was new... Guess theyre still working (lol)
The air is pressed into the same bladder as the oil so you will always get some (very liitle) oil coming out when airing them up or checking presure. The air line goes into the same and only place \\;that the oil goes. I would suspect that on of your fittings is bad. Recheck all the fittings, take hose out and reinsert them making sure they are secured. In my experience when a shock goes bad it will leak from the bottom nuder the rubber boot.
