I have a 01 EGC with 55k and it looks like Im fixin to have to put in my 4th stator. Thank God ive been buying lifetime warranty stators. Any of you guys have any ideas as to why I keep blowing stators?
Does your stators match the rotor, if they aren't correct for each other it will shorten the life. Harley had some mismatched set get out of the factory and I believe it might have been '01.
Have you checked the regulator? I'd have the whole electrical system checked. As stated above, the stator and rotor needs to be a matched set.

Can you explain this more. I get a clank sound in my front end when I apply the front brakes sometimes. My small Indy said something about a stator. Not sure exactly what a stator is. What does it have to do with the rotor? Thanks

Two different things. \\; They're talkin' about the stator (wire windings) &\\; magnet rotor that rotates around it on the end of the crank shaft. \\; It generates the electricity your motor uses. \\; Nothing to do with the brake rotor.
Im begining to think that maybe water is gettin in thur the hole in the case where the stator wires come out. Im gonna put some sylcone around the wires and the connector this time and see what happins.
I put the new Cycle Electric Stator and Rectifying Regulator on my King. \\; The stator has been great, but the Regulator they sent me was a defect, which they replaced. \\; I was out on the road when I discovered this so I had to go with an HD OEM Regulator to get down the road. \\; So, I've got a new in the box Regulator from Cycle Electric if you're interested or find you need it. \\; $100 and it's yours + shipping. \\; Check their website. \\; It's for the dresser/touring models. PM me if you want.

The rotor is NOT inside the stator, and
the stator is NOT rotating.
The rotor is \\;rotating around the stator, \\;\\\\\\;sending electricity
to the regulator.
