Good morning guys. First let me intoduce myself, I have been an infrequent visitor on the Dyna boards for a while now and have been lurking here for a few days reading as much as I can. \\;Yesterday we traded my wifes Sportster and she took my Superglide and I bought an Ultra. I wanted a Classic \\;but the dealer couldn't find me one so they sold me an Ultra right. I ride solo and like the look without \\;so the tour pak detachment was a high priority. I have been reading and searching on here and have got lots of good info to start me out. For right now I removed it and tucked the wires under the seat with no problem. I am confused about the antenna relocation kits. I can't seem to find a \\;clear answer to which one I actually need. I know that the HD detachable kit includes it but I don't have the funds yet. There are 2 antenna kits in the catalog, one is about 25 and the other one is 100. I can't determine which one I need. Any Ultra owners who have taken your tour pak off \\;by just unbolting it, how did you address the antenna? I like the idea of the internal ones but am nervous about taking the fairing off. Thanks alot and have a good hump day

You know, that is a very good question. The 25 dollar one states it fits FLHX and FLTR. And the 100 buck one says it fits FLHT, FLHX and FLTR. I dont see why the cheaper one wouldnt work on a FLHTC or a FLHTCU. Maybe someone that has been there will chime in. I will be doing this mod soon as well.
I have a 2000 EG STD and when \\; I added the radio, I went with the hidden fairing antenna. The fairing removal/install is quick and easy (don't scratch it). \\; The antenna is marine radio antenna if I recall. \\; Works fine and you get your detach kit and dump the trunk when you want. \\; I end up leaving the thing on since I don't want it hanging around getting dinged in the garage.

I am pretty sure the difference stems from the fact that the ultra & classic require an additional length of cable that lengthens the cable(s) - due to differing stock locations from a RG. Additionally, you have two antennas to relocate on an ultra.
Do yourself a favor and buy one of the tourpak wall mounts from someone like eglide-goodies. That will keep that unit safe and outa the way.
When I took the tourpak off my classic, I never put it back on until the day I sold the bike.
I have pretty much decided to go with an internal antenna like the kuryakn tune trapper. i have long legs and like to just sling my leg over the gike and not have to dodge an antenna. plus its cheaper than relocating it. first priority is a tallboy seat though. after riding it for a few days \\;i need to scoot back some. hopefully the tallboy will do it, and then maybe even send it to mean city for some more mods.
