Ride on! \\; It may never break. \\; Look at it this way, do you go and get your tires changed because you might get a flat? \\; Nope! \\; So, until HD issues a recall, wouldn't worry about it. \\; It's one of those things, we see 10 posts or so and all of of a sudden it's a huge problem. \\; Reality is, right now it is a very small percentage of bikes. \\; Maybe it was just a bad lot of a few hundred, maybe you have one, maybe you don't, only time will tell, so I would enjoy it and not worry about it until or IF it happens. \\; I've got almost 5000 miles on mine in the last three months and if I worried about the TBW, brake squeal, fuel pump housing and all the other problems a FEW are having, I wouldn't be havin' no fun.
It sounds like you and your wife might each have less than 4000 miles total experience on 2 wheels. \\; If so, how much do you have on twisties? \\; Can both of you stay in your part of the lane while taking curves? \\; You're going to be out there with the big dogs. \\; That's what I'd be concerned about, not a bracket.
Got my new SG this year, replaced my trusty RK that i would have ridden anywhere. Went to Laconia again this year, had a great time. If I was worried about breaking down to the point of not going anywhere, I could have spent the weekend home painting the house. \\; The wife was driving my truck a few weeks ago, and some moron smashed into her, two blocks away from the house. My point is, go, enjoy the ride, don't worry about something that may not happen ever. If it breaks down, it's an inconvienience only, you didn't crash or worse. Have fun!
the road is fine... it's the fools you'll need to worry about.... ride it, tuesday through thursday, before noon... killboy/zeefoto/us129 will be there taking photos. as noted above, stick to the fog line, and wave any crotch rocket by....

Riding isn't the problem for us. My wife just got rid of her Fat Boy, and I reluctantly got rid of my Road King. I saw the fuel bracket issue hit a rider in our group while we were pulling out on to a main road from a red light. He stalled in the middle of the intersection - really freaked him out.
I will be heading that way again in about two weeks as my wife is heading for London. I'll leave Thursday or Friday from Northern Virginia July 10th or 11th and return Sunday the 13th. I have one other guy going and a couple who say they are going but I won't hold my breath. If anyone wants to tag along you are welcome, just email me.
