My wife and I both have 08 Street Glides with about 3400 miles. We're making the 550 mile trip to Deals Gap next week. Based on all the posts I've been reading, I'm really nervous about the fuel filter bracket issue hitting us while we're in transit. Does anyone know if the dealers will replace this without the sign of the problem? It's probably a little late since we're leaving next Wednesday. Can anyone point me to dealers near the Tail of the Dragon in case we break down while we're up there? Also has anyone had good/bad/indifferent experiences with our H.O.G. memberships and towing?
My advice to you would be to take the trip and enjoy yourselves. The chances of you having the fuel pump problem are probably lower than you each buying winning lotto tickets at different locations.

Besides, if it happens to one of your bikes, you have another one to continue the journey on.

be more concerned about riding your bike on the dragon than the fuel filter. I have been there 18 times in less than a yr. (after riding the dragon several times and witnessing so many crash's I only ride the surounding roads now.)Someone every wkend go's to the hospital. Very nice and beautiful roads all over up there that you can enjoy. The dragon is for sport bikes not Harleys its a very tight and curvey road that in not enjoyable at all, just go to deals gap store at the begining and by your tshirt and dragon sticker then say you did it and DON'T! imo.
 \\;I got a 1" by 2" chunk of metal appx. 18 miles from home and called H.O.G roadside assistance.
 \\;
 \\;I took about a half an hour to find out that they would send out a tow truck but they only cover the fierst 100 bucks. The rest I would have to fork out ( total bill was est. at $150.00).

The Dragon is a good ride. I have been there a couple of times with the most recent about three weeks ago. Don't bust the speed limit it is heavily patrolled by THP. You can really enjoy the ride if you take it easy and pay attention to your surroundings. The good governor of Tennessee signed a law last summer banning trucks from using that particular part of TN 129. The sport bike riders have a tendency to let their egos take over but THP seems to be slowing them down considerably. A co-worker, on a sport bike, rode with us and we put him in front when we got to the dragon. He got a very nice "High Speed Award" to take home and frame. LOL. He was doing 51 \\;in a 30. I was told that 15 over was a $200.00 ticket. Be safe and make sure you check out \\;Cherohala Skyway. \\; \\;It is actually more fun than the Dragon.

Been there a few times myself and is in the top five greatest places to ride for me. Just ride at your skill level and dont try to catch up with someone just because they passed you. Differently watch out for tree darts. aka rice rockets.
