On my 01 FLHTC, I adjusted my carb to base idle at 900rpms, because at full operating temp it would run up to 1500. \\; Now it seems to low, takes longer to warm up, I have to use my enricher when its 90 outside for at least 1.5 miles. \\; My question is, what should the base idle be set to? \\; Carb is completely stock, no air kit or rejet.
Do all carb adjustments when the engine is at operational temp . When it is there you would want it right at 1000 rpm's . Are you sure you are adjusting the idle and not the air fuel ratio ?

I did adjust at operating temp. \\; I'm adjusting the screw to the right of the carb. \\; Accessible with the air cover on. \\; Brass screw.
You must do the final setting for the idle fully warm as posted.
If your carb is really factory stock , with the reinharts , it's probably really lean at idle and off idle.
If you can get to the pilot screw (with the cover removed) you could probably cure some of the long warmup time a bit.
I went from the stock #45 pilot to a #46 then a #48 to get my idle mixture right , just with V&H slipons.
If you care to get into a few carb mods (under $20.00) you can get the bike to run really nice.
My mods are in my sig at the bottom.
Good luck
Mick
It ran fine and warmed up good, before I took it into the dealer for a 20K mile service. \\; Not sure what they did, but it runs worse than before.
So the 20K service was done?
Is it possible you stopped for fuel on the way home from the dealer?
One bad fill up can create havoc with a carb (or anything else).
You should voice your concern (carefully) with the dealer , and give them a full account of what you are experiencing.
Don't go in with an accusitory tone , just ask what may have led to this situation.
Have the service writer explain the entire 20K checkup , line by line , with a curious (concerned) undertone.
A good dealer will want to know how the techs are doing in the shop , and trace back to a problem area before it's a big problem.
I'm curious also , so let us know how you make out.

Mich is on the money . You do sound lean . You need to have you carb rejeted if you haven't . It could be showing up because of the warm weather also . I adjust my carb monthly .

I did go through everything line by line. \\; I did fill up on the way home from teh dealer. \\; They said it could be that. \\; I rode this morning and other than taking longer to warm up to operating temp, it idles exactly at 1000rpms. \\; I'm thinking its probably lean and the weather is affecting it. \\; I get a good bit of decel pop prior to warm up, but then it gets a little less. \\; I'm thinking I should just complete the stage 1 with air kit.
