How does the insert come off the console of 08 FLHT? \\; I may change it some day. \\; I read in the service manual how to remove the console but it didn't sound like it was \\;for an EG. \\; I didn't get a chance to read it a second time but I couldn't find any of the screws they were talking about. \\;
I assume you don't need to remove the console to change the insert but curious about both now.
Instructions should come with the insert.I put the chrome HD one on my ultra and it was an easy job.If I remember right screws were by gas cap and under seat.Take console loose and more screws on bottom of console for insert.Quick easy job

Yeah, that's what my SM said but there aren't any screws under the locking cap. \\; I know the 08 tanks are different than 07's. \\; I think I even screwed the gas cap off too to make sure it wasn't covering. \\;
I'll have to read that section again........................strange.
One bolt at the tank and one up top, take the cap off and lift it up - un do the wire hold down clips it comes right off. vent line can come off if need be.
Use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. Try to get some fishing line (maybe dental floss) under a corner and saw it back and forth. The only advantage to taking off the console is that there are a couple of places to push up on the insert. Be sure to remove all of the old adhesive. Follow the instructions with the new insert.
