Default Cracked Windshield

I noticed a crack in my windshield last night.&nbsp\\; It is coming from underneath the strip of metal that goes in the front of the windshield.&nbsp\\; I took the bolts out of it and it would come off.&nbsp\\; I'm figuring know that there is double sided foam on that strip that I'm guessing has adhesive on it.&nbsp\\; My question is if this in covered under the warranty.&nbsp\\; I've had the bike for a little over a year so it is still under warranty.&nbsp\\; Or would it just be covered if it was caused by the holed that was drilled in for the bolt.&nbsp\\; Thanks guys.

I doubt that Harley would still cover it but you can try. Its likely a flex crack because Harley uses Lexan instead of&nbsp\\;Polycarbonate.

You didnt specify which bike or windshield ....
The most common cause of windshields cracking at the bolt holes is over tightening the screws.
Unless its a material defect, windshields are considered a wear item &amp\\; not covered under warranty.
However, if youre real nice about it, they might give you a take off from another bike.
Lexan is GE plastics trade name for their polycarbonate formula.

Nope,my dealer would not cover mine, said somebody probably over tighten it.If you have a windshield bag on it,take it off before you ask your dealer about it.My dealer did inform me that I could buy a replacement for my 07 road king for 150.00.

Their delivery time is long, but if you were to get a replacement, I would go with Clearview with the recurve.

If you can't wait, get a Memphis Shades, they are sold by many online retailers.
Both of these windshields are far better than the HD ones.

When you take the windshield apart from the metal support strips use a heat gun to help dissemble and release the glue. That way you will not bend the metal support strips out of shape. Also use a Sharpie and mark each support piece so you know what goes where.

Happend to my '07 Ultra last year. Only had 6800 miles or so on it at the time. HD replaced it for free. I figured it was a stress crack as it was right by one of the screws.
