I think we all have pretty much decided it has to do with your build date. Any (?) 08 bike built before Jan 1 has the cheap azz \\;canister part in it and probably a really good chance it will fail on you at its earliest convienence. \\;After Jan. \\;Moco switched vendors to a beefyer \\;(still plastic part). Mine went out at 1K, 2 days to get repaired.....Its over.......I hope.
you know, it's a bummer that you guys with the early build 08s are having this problem, but i do have to question the title of this thread 'another 08 fuel problem report'. if i read the original post correctly, you didn't have a problem yet, just picking up parts just in case.....

I,m sorry for the poor choice of title. I wasn't inferring I had a problem just giving another report on "the problem". T.
MIne has been shutting off latley and one time the pump just kept running. After I shut off the switch and turned it back on, then the pump ran it's normal cycle. I took it to my Harley dealer and they put a gauge on the pump and started the bike. They said the pump was working fine. However, the tech said they have replaced quite a few of these pumps already \\;and Harley admits there is a problem \\;but won't replace it until it goes completly out.

i wasn't meaning to bag on you (too hard anyway \\), i just saw the title and thought, sh*t, another one.... i had sorta been toying with the idea of trading in my 07 custom for a street glide, so been watching the 08 threads to see what's up. its a moot point anyway, they want too much money and not enough of a trade in to make it worth my while. i can get a detachable fairing for less than what i would be losing in the deal. probably including the hard bags too, though i do like my hard leather bags.
I was traveling down the road on three different occasions, and I heard a startling 1 sec HISS. I was told it was the fuel pressure regulator that has a clip on it that was \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;faulty, and when it goes, it \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;will not allow the pressure to build up and the bike \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;will not start. I have an appointment on july 9th. I will report back after that.
 \\;
it is official...I got the call an hour ago that the ring/clip was indeed cracked! The dealer put it in as a "down bike" so they pull the part from the line and over night it. NO need to wait for the back ordered part. They said if I had not put it in the shop, I would have broke down for sure.
