Check your tires!!!!!! I was wrapped up in checking everything else on the bike that I over looked the rear tire. It has plenty of tread (5mm) but That was used up solo riding with no load. I'm planning a 2k trip with the wife and luggage. That will put the tire at 10k and that 5mm is going to disappear pretty fast under these conditions............new tire it is. So.......think it out when it comes to your tires.....what appears to be good now may not be done the road.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Have a safe trip!!

I have a ferry to catch on friday morning at 7 am.
I'd make sure to pack a pair of soft-ties and my tie downs if I were planning to make a ferry crossing. I don't know about other ferries, but the ones to and in Nova Scotia don't have the best tie downs for bikes and the rider is responsible for securing his ride.

Also - dependin' on yer route, ah'd consider some fuel cells, such as made by MSR. On our recent trip to the Dakota's an' over ta New Mexico, thar were several legs in which KNOWING ah had the spare fuel aboard made all the difference, since on more than one occassion, it took 4.5-4.8 gallons to refill the tank!

I went from this.....

to this...

I had two days to do it before I went to the HDF Rally, I packed lots of extra tools and never took a test ride before taking off on a 1500+ mile weekend

Stupid.. probably..... Worth it, YES!!!
Gone stealth on us??&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; looking good!

Actually the most I do is make sure its all maintained brakes and tires wise.&nbsp\\; Everything else is always kept up..

Thirty Minute Checkout:
&nbsp\\;
S**t under the covers and seat dont get a visual very often.&nbsp\\; In addition to the&nbsp\\; normal walk around (tires/ controls/ chassis/&nbsp\\;lights/ oils/ stand)&nbsp\\; I take off the seat and check that battery terminals and battery lock down screws are tight.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Take off the side covers and take a good look&nbsp\\;at wires and connectors (wire rubs/ connector condition). &nbsp\\;Both side covers and battery check is Twenty minute job max.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Heres a link to a really good check list based on MSF TCLOCS walkaround.&nbsp\\; Always use a list when you'r e pressed for time or otherwise stressed

Don't forget you fingerless gloves and your chaps....2 of the more essential items to make your bike run better.
