The center post of the cig lighter is Pos. Connect your pos, there and you can share the same gound as the cig lighter.

The spare leads on the headlight circuit &amp\\; the cigarette lighter are the same circuit. Just plug two spade tips into the leads right behind your headlight, it's switched &amp\\; works just fine.

ORIGINAL: streeter
your Garmin GPS runs on&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;just under 5 volts, hence the electrical gadgets in the male socket. Leave the socket in place and hard wire in under the fairing a lighter socket to plug into. Just a thought.
Okay lets review.
So I wire in a female cig lighter socket to the headlight spades?
Or do I cut the cig socket off the Garmin power lead and wire it in?
Thanks guys

Either way will work.&nbsp\\;I like the cigarette lighter and the lights don't have to be on to work it. It switches off with the ignition and wont run down your battery if you forget. I just stripped&nbsp\\;off about a quarter inch of insulation about an inch from the back of the lighter and soldiered my wires on.&nbsp\\;You can slip some shrink tubing over the wire first to protect it or just tape them. &nbsp\\;I don't know about the other method.

+1 on the marine grade cigarette lighter. Easy on and off. Adding tunes to the Zumo today for my trip this weekend.

From the Garmin website I ordered a replacement power cable (find your gps and look under accessories) and had my dealer connect it to the acc switch.&nbsp\\; The connector exits the fairing with the handlebar and is elastic banded to the bar with&nbsp\\;an excess 6 to 8 inches in the fairing.&nbsp\\; I simply pull the connector to the gps when it is mounted and push it back into the fairing when not needed.
