Trans problems on friends Bike
I have a friend with a 99 superglide I think or a low rider not sure, he just wrote me saying that his trans was acting up. Seems it'll up shift perfect but downshifting gives him false neutrals here's his letter to me. let me know if you \\; have any ideas on this! Thanks!

Hey, you know anything about Harley transmissions? My damn bike wont downshift! It upshifts perfectly but when I try to downshift it finds false neuturals and after jumbling the shifter I will find some gear just not the one I want. Yesterday I fishtailed it turning on to Little Moutain road trying to go to 3rd and it went to first.

Sounds like I'd take it to a reliable mechanic\\; rather than fishtail... \\; I'd first check the linkage, and the fluids... when was the last time he had it serviced? \\; When my bike is cold and the fluids are thick it does not shift as easily. \\; I'm wondering if he has good fluids in...Odd that it would only be on downshifts, but... someone here will post some ideas I'm sure.

Not really a lot of miles on his bike even though he bought it new, has kids and a long houred job. It just started doing it out of the blue fine one minute acting up the next [:@] \\;Thanks for the suggestions I've passed them along to him along with my suggestion he get a service manual
