Hi all
Edit: I should be more clear sorry, the price and affordability of this "toy" is not the issue, I do not want to pay more for something just because I can, I want the best deal because hey, its still a toy lol....
I'm purchasing a new 08 Street glide, Dark blue denim with Security, Cruise and a free 4 year extended warranty, \\;NO ABS, $500 (MAX) down dealer matched \\;(total of $1000) for $18600 or I can get the same thing but in vivid black and its a 2009 for $19100
Are these good prices? I'm buying it through Harley's Military sales and it seemed a little steep for the 08 seeing most people seemed to have purchased theirs for up to $2500 below MSRP ($19125) because the 09's are coming.Should I get the 08 or 09? only \\;\\;$500 difference and does the price seem good?
Well, it depends if you want to wait for the 09s to come out. The 08s are great bikes, too. Is the dealer matching your down payment based on purchasing the 08? If so, your cost on the 09 goes up.
I like the blue denim, myself. Definitely easier to keep clean. I have a vivid black and am constantly dusting, polishing, and cleaning. The blue denim will keep you on the road more and cleaning less.
if it were me, I'm having a friend drive me to the dealer today and get the blue denim! Enjoy and ride safe!!
my 2 cents worth is these are toys. if you arent able to pay cash for it dont buy it. as a gi you know what your salalry is. dont make the mistakes of dealing with debt rite after starting a new life
Price is not horrible, but not great, well, just average. I am with JonGolden, if the matching downpayment is based on the dealer clearing out the 08's, it seems like a better deal, but guess what? As soon as you buy it, it is a year old already. Just something to think about.
BTW, black is the fastest color. Someone had to say it...
If you cant afford more down I wouldnt buy the bike.Buy used or save your money,HDs are expensive to maintain unless you can do all the maintance. Not saying you shouldnt buy, but dosent sound like you can afford to buy now.Good luck no matter what you do.

Thanks for the heads up. My debt after starting my new life is finally gone. Married to the mil now 10 years and divorced for 3 from the lady. I am at the best time to now to purchase a toy and Germany is great, almost year long riding.
 \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
I should have cleared that up a little lol. I have always had toys around that I could just jump into and go for a weekend drive \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;for a show and shine and those have always been VW's but Im ready for a change, a different kind all together.

Edit: $500 is the max they will match and they need at least 300 to start the order to get the SG to Germany. I should have it Nov..... then I will put more down.....
Without seeing the list prices, not sure if it's a good deal or not. \\; Should be a bigger difference than 500 bucks for an 09, this time of year. \\; Could be getting a good deal on the 09 and not on the 08??
500 bucks for a newer model is worth it to me but you need to look at the list prices and see what they're doing.
hi
dont know if you plan to keep the bike for a while but if you intend to sell in a year or 2 then the 09 would make more sense .
Dont know what your dealership charges for maintenance but some service charges are pretty steep unless they will let you do your own service and still keep your 4 year warranty .
