Default oil filter

I am starting to change my own fluids and trying to figure out how to get the oil filter off without making a mess. I have a 07 Ultra with premium cooler.
Any ideas that might work.

Try cutting the bottom out of a 2 liter pop bottle and running your socket/extension through the small hole.&nbsp\\; Slip the big hole under and around the filter while you wrench it off.&nbsp\\; Most important thing in the long run it to try to keep the oil off of that front motor mount.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;Good luck, it ain't easy!

&nbsp\\;The way I've been doing it, and loose very little oil is to make a trough out of tin foil, and kinda shove it up under the filter and down to a pan. THEN, take a long pointed punch and poke a hole in the end of the filter near the botom, and&nbsp\\; one near the top of the filter&nbsp\\;(you&nbsp\\;wern't going to use the filter again anyway) let the oil drain out of&nbsp\\;hole in the&nbsp\\;filter into your tin foil trough. when it's done draining, spin off the filter. You will find out you have very little oil to wipe up.

i use cardboard to slide under filter. poke hole let it drain. DO NOT USE CHEMICALM CLEANERS AROUND FRONT MOTOR MOUNT! rubber very sensitive to chems will deteiorate and crumble in a very short time

The 2 litre bottle works very well, if you feel like spending your money J&amp\\;\\\\\\;P cycles has a oil drip pan that fits up against the filter and catches the mess. It cost about $20.

Well, for me, I tried the plastic bottle thing, the foil thing...I just jam a bunch of paper shop towels under the filter...I have yet to find something that works without a mess...Good luck...

I use the gear lube bottle (from my trans change) as a funnel.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;I've cut it to fit and it works well.&nbsp\\; You can also take the box the filter comes in and fold it flat placing it under the filterto form&nbsp\\;a make-shift funnel.&nbsp\\; I like the quality of a K&amp\\;N filters and the removal nut manufactured on the end that lets you remove it easily.
