Wondering just what you guys with oil coolers on your engines are using to pull off the oil filter. On my Ultra, not problem with a large pair of slip joint pliers from the front of the engine. But the oil cooler on my SEUC sort of blocks the filter from the front. So, what are you gus using?
Harley makes a" socket" wrench that fits on the end of the oil filter. You will need a couple of extensions for your ratchet. I also cut a cereal box and bend it in half. Slide that under the filter and all the oil will run into a pan on the floor. P.s. the wrench is slotted. You can only make 1/4 turns at a time. You will know what I mean when you try it, works slick! Good luck.
I use the one from Drag, with the cut-out for the crank sensor. It fits a 3/8 extention and works great. The only bad part is that you can only turn the filter a quarter turn at a time, but it works fine for me. Good luck.

I "fashioned" the equivalent to the filter wrench with the cut out by cutting out a section of a regular wrench with a Dremel and grinder. Works great. Saved a few bucks and a trip to the dealer.

Funny my Kent Moore and HD filter sockets will both turn a full turn.
Take the 3 oil cooler nuts off and lift the cooler off the mounting plate, otherwise the cooler cover fills up with oil then gets saturated with dirt and road grime and eventually plugs up the bottom couple of rows of the cooler.
go get a strap wrench.I think i got mine at NAPA but they are sold everyware.keep those chanell locks for plumbing work and away from your bike. lol slip a piece of tihn cardboard like a pasta box over the oil cooler
