Default question about the 08's

What is the piece that is mounted off the front of the motor, (looks like a motor mount) that goes to alittle insert in the front of the frame with a connecting rod that looks to be adjustable?&nbsp\\; This seems to take away from the rubber mount theory.&nbsp\\; I have noticed that the front fender and even the tire shakes quite abit while idling.&nbsp\\; Somebody give me some insight as to what this is/does.&nbsp\\; thanks!&nbsp\\;

I believe it is a motor mount. I think HD had to move the mount due to the new efi.

Its another skrew from Harley............Just kidding.It is the same stablizer that is found under the gas tank right above/over the throttle body/carb.It helps w/side to side movement.It is a improvement for the stroke motors as the may shake a little differently.Regards,Tom

Default RE: question about the 08's

shakes quite abit more than the 07's down that's for sure.&nbsp\\; Me and my buddy, he has a 08 SG and me was looking at the difference in how much vibration there was and his shook the fender and even the tire, while&nbsp\\;my 04&nbsp\\;is fairly smooth.&nbsp\\; So what is with the adjustment on it?&nbsp\\; You can adjust the side to side movement? Yeah seems like a stupid question,&nbsp\\; just I'm alittle confused on it.&nbsp\\; Looks a little gawdy too.&nbsp\\; Was there that big of a change in the efi that warranted this change or&nbsp\\;did they just see it as&nbsp\\;an improvement, that well...... maybe didn't improve anything?&nbsp\\; Reminds me of the cartridge they ran for a few years in the front fork, that really imo didn't improve anything, just made it harder to change fork oil.&nbsp\\; Oppps....&nbsp\\; then they went back back to the old way.&nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;

Its a stabilizer link. Harley moved it on the 08 from under the tank to the front of the engine on top. Page 18 of the 08 HD parts manual
There is also one on the bottom in front of the engine.
Do not remove them.

adjusting it affects the alignment of the powertrain to the wheels.&nbsp\\; if you aren't sure of what you're doing, leave it alone.
