Been thinking about this, and found one on ebay. \\; Anybody have any experience with this product? \\; It's a lot better price than the HD unit, but I'm seriously wondering about quality. \\; I seemed to get burned every time I try to save some $$, but I know there are some good deals out there. \\; Advise? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPEEDO-TACHOMETER-SPEEDOMETER-COMBO-HARLEY-ROAD-KING_W0QQitemZ370066400657QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 370066400657&\\;_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318
I have that same Speedo/Tach unit on my RK, it's a different part number for the '06 though.
I love it, looks great, it's much better than mounting a separate tach on the handlebars.
As far as the EBay listing goes, the part number listed is not a good HD #, for your 2000 FLHR(I) it should be 74461-03A, which retails for $420.
Since the seller seems to be upstanding, 122,000 sales with 98.9% positive feedback, I would ask for part number clarification from him.
That would be only issue with buying that one from him, is it the right one for your bike.
That looks just like the HD Dual I put on my 01 RKC - HDs didn't last long for $400+ Tach kept going nuts after a year or so and HD only had a 90day warranty on it.
Hey SoCal_Pappy, I thought it was just me. \\; I bought a Speedo/Tach from Harley, and the speedo neeedle started going wacky after a few months. \\; Odometer and Tach are OK. \\; I ALMOST had the factory to agree to replace it, but they found out that I installed it myself. \\; Apparently, I should have paid $80.00 for a ten minute job and had the dealer install it. \\; $450.00 for nothing.
Hey Upswept, I have had to replace the combo unit 3 times and I've installed the original myself. I called Harley and they forced the issue with my local dealer. \\; My problem is that the red alarm key stays lit as if the alarm was not armed. \\; Even after three the problem has nbot been solved. \\; Anyway, I just put up with it now.
Coming off a Low Rider two weeks ago and getting the RK, I can tell you flat out that looking down that far to see the guages is downright dangerous. Have seen the mini tachs handlebar mounted and they look OK. Will go that route if I decide to keep the King.
I put the dual instrument on my '07 Heritage and immediately removed it. Even though Harley told my dealer that I wouldn't lose any features, I lost the clock and \\;2nd trip odometer. I also didn't like the fact that the odometer showed constantly even with the ignition off.
