silly question. an option is always better than none. had mine since day one on my 02 and no issues with looseness at all. actually, this thread is the first I've heard of anyone having problems with the detach tourpak. i prefer mine off except for longer trips. I can put it on and take it off by myself but it is easier if you have a second pair of hands. my vote is definitely get it.

I also have the detachable Tour Pak set up on my 08 Electra Glide Classic.I never really took it off because like everyone I was afraid to just put it on the floor in the garage, so I bought a very simple well made wall mount bracket on e bay for $25 and you know what it works great and if not as good as the ones selling for over $100. Now the tour pak has been off the bike and mounted on that&nbsp\\;wall bracket.I love the bike without it as I mostly solo ride, and put on a detachable sissy bar, backpad for looks mostly, and if I&nbsp\\;go on a trip I pop it back on in a minute! Sure I do miss the extra storage but Im a pac rat so the more space I have the more Ill pack and carry even if I dont need the stuff, and the bike feels so much lighter and less top heavy without it!! Thanks Bill

My 04 flht only has it on for TRIPS.....I dont like extra weight but wife loves the comfort of it!!!!And if Momma's Happy, We all Happy!!!!!....GREAT OPTION!!!!! But around town detach luggage rack on for extra caring space..ALSO Gilbos 440rt ,HDF member, makes VERY NICE aftermarket machined spacers for detach options that work great and last!!!! Look him up and see what he offers,Great guy and stands behind ALL his work!!!! Check it out!!! R.W.

sometimes the tourpak is on, sometimes the sissy bar is on, sometimes nothing at all. I love my RKC.&nbsp\\; btw, HD sells a detachables lock in a 2-pack so you can put one on the tourpak and one on the sissy bar and only have one key to worry about. the tourpak with a luggage rack and a relocator is kinda expensive so the lock is peace-of-mind - slows down the casual thief.

I had a Corbin Dual Tour with front & rear backrests. Decided to put a King Tour Pack on with detachable hardware. The seat would not fit because of
the detachable hardware interfering with the seat, but would fit with a fixed mount. So mine is on a fixed mount with a George Anderson relocator kit installed. I love the King Tour Pack and probably would not take it off if I could.

I like detachable hardware the option is there. One day I will have just a rack and next day the tour-pak. I use mine for work so it needs have changes. Go home and take it all off.

I have a 2007 EGC. I have the detachable tour pack and a detachable sissy bar.
I would say 80% of the time the tourpack is OFF. Several Reasons -
&nbsp\\;
1. The bike looks better
2. I don't use the tourpak that much - I can get a ton of stuff in the saddlebags
3. The bike is a LOT more stable without the tourpack which is important around town. This is also true when I have the wife on the back, still more stable.
4. I can take the tourpak on or off in 45 seconds - I timed myself
&nbsp\\;
Just a few notes - the tourpak is tight, no problems with the hardware. The only thing to change is the ANTENNA. Go to a parts store and buy a $5 14 inch long antenna - works BETTER than the stock and you don't have to deal with a set screw. I am also looking at a hidden antenna for inside my Fairing, but have not done that yet.
&nbsp\\;
The reality is that it is GREAT to have options - do the removable fairing, totally worth it.
