Rode 94 miles half of which was interstate going 65-70(closer to 70)mph in 6th gear and the other half was county two lane road where you run 5-10 miles and then come to a stop sign. Used 5th gear for this portion. \\; Used 2.25 gallons which works out to 41.777 mpg. \\; Bike has 1350 miles on it. \\;I made this \\;ride primarily to see what my mileage would be. \\; Doesn't seem like enough based on \\;what I've read on this forum. \\; Just had the 1,000 mile service. \\; Couple of weeks ago road 125 miles on mostly the county-type roads, 60 mph, 5th gear \\;and got the same mpg. \\; Bike is all stock. \\; I don't think there is any adjusting that a dealer can do without first installing a PC or SERT, is there?
That's close to AVG. \\; Every one rides a bit different and you should improve MPG a bit as the bike breaks in more. And you really cant get a true picture with only a short ride as there are a lot of things that can effect MPG.
I normally get around 42+ AVG with a bacis stage 1 and California Crap Gas
Thanks for the input. \\; When I just \\;go for \\;rides after work to relax I'm on county roads where ya run a mile or two and then have a stop sign. \\; This type of riding has a lot more running through the gears and I get 38-39 mpg on that type of riding and that's fine. \\; I was expecting on the interstate run to see closer to 45 mpg given an EPA spec of 54 highway. \\; I know I'll never see 54 but I would expect the 45. \\; Would putting in a PC or SERT allow for tweeking to improve mileage or are they just for performance(higher HP and torque)? \\;
 \\; Ajay,
 \\; \\; \\; \\; We just got back Sunday night from a 985 mile, 4 day ride up into the Adarondaks (sp)
 \\; \\; mountains of NY. \\; \\;2 up averaged 44 mpg. The bike is bone stock 08 EGC. \\; Using the GPS the speedo runs about 4 mph higher the the gps. Clyde the Glide now has over 8,000 miles on him and its an awesume tourer!! \\; I noticed my milage increase when I started shifting at about 2600 rpm and not winding it out to over 3k.
agreed the higher Rpm's seem to kill you MPG, that and when I installed the Reinharts, and I want to hear them and rev the engine, the MPG goes into the crapper.... \\;
 \\;
I got a 08 Street Glide and I would say I"m averaging close to 45, although I did have the Stage I AC installed and a SERT.
Hubby is averaging about 43 on our Ultra, mostly solo riding, but long trips 2-up are averaging the same. It has Stage 1, Python pipes, and synthetic oil with alomst 5k miles \\;
 \\;
On a side note, the mileage improved about 4 mpg when we switched it to synthetic and it is getting better the more miles that are on it.
