I had none of the symptoms you mentioned. I added IDS. It made a very good bike better. Nuff sed.

Anyone have an idea of how long the IDS will last under normal riding conditions?&nbsp\\;Being a relatively soft part, I assume it is going to need replacing at some point.

I have no data to support this, but I'm hoping for improved rear tire life. The IDS dampens the high frequency power pulses where the rubber meets the road.
there is totally unscientific, but i had to replace my rear dunlop at 10,000miles.&nbsp\\; when i had the rear off, i had them install the ids as well (special, buy the tire, free installation)&nbsp\\; my new rear tire (dunlop) has 11,000 on it and looks virtually brand new.&nbsp\\; i didn't change my riding style any, but didn't really think of the ids connection till you brought it up.

I will keep an eye on my rear tire, thanks skratch.
&nbsp\\;
The way I see it, if the MOCO thought that I should install the IDS then it would be at their expense. I’m not shelling out the Franklins to do it because I have no issues about the 5th gear noise.
&nbsp\\;
Thanks to the July 4th weekend, I’m just a few miles from 9000. As I have stated before, the more miles I’ve racked up, the quieter 5th gear is. I am taking an oil sample from the transmission for analysis in the coming weeks and I’ll know a little more hopefully and I’ll post the results.
&nbsp\\;
The whine is just no longer an issue with me and I seriously doubt that I’ll ever add the IDS.

I didn't have bad symptoms before....but did the same when replacing the tires. It was good money spent&nbsp\\;on my part, it's smooth and like a different bike shifting...also it did smooth out engine pulses! I would definitely recommend the IDS. My 2 cents

No data to offer, but just a nod in the direction of the VRODs, which have been using it for, how long has it been, since they hit the street?

I was wondering why I am having more trouble this summer finding neutral. I added the IDS just as the riding season ended last fall to my 07 Classic. Though it is harder to find neutral because it shifts so smooth I don't mind because I love what it does for the bike. It's like riding a completely different motorcycle.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

Based on the longevity of these type of systems, which have been&nbsp\\;used by other manufactures for many years, &nbsp\\;I seriously doubt you will ever have to worry about replacing the rubber pucks.
