The J&S shows getting the bike on the stops right away and relieving jack pressure, which I like. The Pitbull doesn't show this, and in fact Pitbull offers a separate stand in lieu of keeping the bike on the lift.

Seems like the J&S is better both for storage and for keeping pressure of of the bottle jack once the bike is lifted, but maybe the stops on the Pitbull are there to support the bike too (e.g. to use for long-term storage, etc.) and I just haven't seen anyone mention this fact. Thanks for anyone's help on this.
My bike has been up on the stops for about 3 months now. they are designed to support the bike with the bottle pressure off.

Another factor to keep in mind is shipping. I looked at both and depending which company your closer to, freight will be a big difference. As I live in Chicago and J&S is In WI, shipping was very cheap compared to the 130.00+ shipping quote for the Pitbull. Both jacks are very well made and you could not go wrong with either. I have my V Rod on the old Sears Jack and the jack seems like a toy compared to the J&S

I got a Pitbull and it was all about price. It was listed used on Ebay with minimum bid of $102. The seller wouldn't ship local pickup only. The shipping must've keep it from getting bid on as I was second bidder for $103 and won it! Had to drive to North Atlanta to get it but it was well worth the trip.

Check your local dealers. They might be able to get one without shipping charges.

Pitbull for me. I also found mine on ebay and was able to pick up. I have since been to Paris where the lifts are made. I wish I had the air operated one, but for the $200 I gave for it I can foot pump. The guys are super nice. Check them out at the major rally's.

All good information, thanks to everyone. The International Motorcycle Show is coming to Chicago next month, and I think I will wait to see if either company shows up with jacks on hand to eliminate paying any shipping costs (and maybe even get a deal on the price). If I remember correctly, Pitbull showed up to the motorcycle show at least on one occaision; I think I remember watching them demo the lift.

I hope at least one of the two companies shows up. If I were them I would bring a lot of inventory because the show goes for three days, and there is a huge turnout. I would think they could sell a lot of units to many of the cruiser owners that come to the show.

I just placed an order for a stepjack. Now I'm wondering if I should have bought a motorcycle lift like the JS or Pitbull. Hmmm, wonder if the wife would accept the idea that I need the stepjack for trips, and the JS at home?
