Ok I have one of the new filter shells in my tour pack, but was told by our service manager, that if built in 08 they had already installed the new and inproved part. \\; My build date is 4/08. \\; Back when our dealer had 25 wish I had bought more than one, wonder how much I could get for them on e-bay, lol. \\; I am glad Dawg shown us how to replace it on the side of the road, but for now will keep mine with me just in case. \\; And it is time we as consumers did something about it, didn't pay over $23,000 for a broke down on the side of the road POS, what we need to do is \\;to speak with a Harley-Davidson customer service representative call (414) 343-4056. \\; Start ringing them phones off the hook, if everyone on this forum called about this problem on one selected day, they just might notice, probally not but just a thought.
My build date is 2-26 and the ' 08a' part is on my bike already! \\; NOTE: \\; I called the above number and they guy was very helpful. \\; I guess the date on our tags is NOT the build date of the bike. \\; It doesn't show the build date on the bike at all - they can look it up by the VIN. \\;
I would suggest that anyone who is concerned to call the above number and give them the VIN.
Also, HD is working on the rear brake squeeking issue and will be informing the dealer of the fix asap!
I called them too. \\; Got an operator who took down my complaint (Fuel Filter Canister \\;Cracking &\\; the Squealing Rear Brake). \\; She said a Harley Technical Rep will be calling me back "soon" to address the issues. \\; Everybody needs to call in and raise Hell!
After reading of the posts of the fuel filter canisters failing on the 08's I proceeded to my local stealers and purchased the canister. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
I proceeded to remove the old canister and fully expected it to fall apart in my hand, as others have posted. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Well to my dismay the canister cover was identical to the new one that I just purchased with the reinforced ends and even the ribs inside of the regulator area. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
My bike has a build date of 10/07 and a new one is installed\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; now I'm confused.
 \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
So go figure, how I could have the upgraded one in my bike with a 07 build date? \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Guess I'll be taking the new part back to the stealer since I already have the new one in the bike.
Comparing the two canisters together side by side. Did you notice any difference in the design at all? [sm=confused06.gif]
Ok that is only two that have called, other than myself which makes three. \\; I know there are many more, wake up and make the call, the more pressure the better, ring them phone off the hook, lol.

Nope, I fould absolutely no differences between the unit that was in my bike and the one that I purchased from stealers. \\; Gonna call the number for a complaint.
