Just got off the phone with HD, although I bought my bike in March, it seem it was built in November. The modified shells started in December so she said to complain when I bring it in for its 1K service.

Seems like we're getting mixed signals from \\;HD. \\; I just got off the phone with Ola (service rep) and she said my 2008
Street Glide indeed has the original fuel filter canister, however, the factory is not going to replace them until the part fails. \\; If I want to pursue the dealer for the updated part, it would be at my cost. \\; \\; Warranty will only pay upon failure. \\; She said that HD's current position is that this problem is sporadic among the touring line and a recall is not expected.

I bet if it were there sons and daughters riding these bikes their position would be different.

Corporate America is alive....but seems doomed!

Cost me $24 (my discount) $30 retail and 45 minutes of my time. For peace of mind, I paid for it and did it myself. The 25k service is when you change out the fuel filter and I will probably change out the shell again at that time when I change the filter just to keep on top of it.

That's not really a bad idea. \\; Maybe I'll just keep the replacement that I purchased and change out the entire piece upon the filter change.

Hey Guys gotta question???? \\; When you removed the top plate to replace canister did you need the special socket to get it off??? I know they changed the setup from all the little screws on a 2007 to a car type twist off....

8/07 build...replaced mine today at 5100 miles, it showed signs of an imminent failure with stress marks around the edges of the tabs, feeling better with the updated part even though it only looks slightly better than the one I removed, only time will tell.
