k, so handle bars, engine guard and rear bag guards, sounds like a good idea to me. Now, how tight should I go? I'm thinking just enough to engauge the shocks?
 \\;
UltraK, thank's for the post, \\; but I would think that's too low to center of gravity, no top support, looks scary. \\;
 \\;
I thought about leaving her home but then who's going to use the strap on?
Doc, I strap in my trailer with:
 \\;
1. \\; Wheel Chock
2. \\; Two straps in front right above fender mount (so as to not compress the shocks) - these pull forward
3. \\; Two straps in back, from the passenger foot board mounts - these pull backwards (or somewhat sideways)
4. \\; Leave in first gear
 \\;
Above all, check tightness of straps (especially couple times first hundred miles). \\; After they tighten up, then every couple hundred miles. \\;

Sir, are you saying I should not compress my shocks front or back?

SAY WHAT?!?!?!? [sm=ummmmokay.gif][sm=alcoholic.gif] \\;\\\\\\;[sm=icon_beat.gif]
Strapping to the handlebars can destroy the riser bushings. I know from 1st hand experience. I've had better luck strapping from the bottom of the triple trees (forward into a chock), 2 short straps off the crash...ummm.... \\;engine guard (sideways) and 1 looped around rear \\;wheel (pulling back) I even made a block of wood with a piece of carpet on top thats 1/2 an inch lower than the frame and the 4 straps in front hold it down very firmly to the block without compressing the fork too faralmost like a solid mount. \\;It might be over kill but piece of mind is nice too especially if you're like me and still makin' payments on the 2 bikes and the pickup and the trailer is the only thing paid for LOL!
now i understand. i thought you bought a harley so you could ride it. now i know why your wife has a pain in the aass. shes competing with a trailer queen!!!
I know it may already be too late since you bought a trailer, but on your next purchase you may want to think about a new seat. \\; My wife used to complain on our old metric cruiser, till we dropped some cask for a mustang seat. she could thenn ride for over a 100 miles before it was time for a break. \\; I origianlly thought the stock seat was fine till i sat in the mustang seat we purchased for it. hot spots dissappeared completely &\\; I could ride close to 200 miles before i had to take a break. \\; Then we bought our ultra. \\; Stock seat with air ride is so much better than upgraded seats on the yamerhammer. Just my .02 worth, but I wouldn't think of trailering my bike unless it's to go to daytona, then I'd only pull it far enough south that I wouldn't have to worry bout a blizzard.
I'm not married so this might \\;not help. Because I can take here or leave her. When she road on the Deuce, her *** hurt but I was \\;riding or she could walk. Putting her on the Ultra is like a whole different world. She thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread. But the Deuce keeps her humble! Is she gives me a hard time, I'll pay here back with the little 5 inch seat! Chang the seat and she will love you!
HD makes touring seats to fit the Road Kings. Two of my buddies had to buy them to keep their wives fom buying plane tickets on a trip we all took last Summer. \\; They had their original seats shipped home. \\; Everybody was happy.
