I'm fond of metzeler 880's Getting ready to replace my rear one,it has a little over 12000 miles on it. I feel it grips better when cornering, great in the rain. IMHO I feel it's much superior to the dunlop.

For best all around service and milage DUNLAP.
metzeler are ok but are a softer compound thats were they get the so called better traction from but they will deliver no were near the miles of service. Unless you going to the race track DUNLAPS
Metzler are softer but a much better tire. My dunlaps followed every grove and imperfection in roadway. \\; I think the quality ride of the metzlers will out shine a high mileage tire. The change to Metzlers were the best change on my bike. The dunlap guys do get more miles out of them but if they tried the Metzlers they would not go back.
I have been running the Michelin Commanders now for several month and several thousand miles.
They are a much better tire than the Dunlops, and equal to, if not slightly better than the Metzlers, but with the Michilens though, you don't have to worry about replacing the rear every 5000 miles.
Also, a word of caution about the Metzlers, they have been sending tires made in South America to US retailers, and these have had a very high failure rate.
If you can find the German made ones then great, but avoid the ones that are made in Brazil.
I just changed from the stock Dunlops to the Metzeler 880. \\; The difference is night and day. \\; The bike no longer follows rain grooves and such and is much more stable in corners as well. \\; As far as I am concerned the best that can be said about the original equipment tires is that they are round and hold the rim off the road.
 \\;
I don't care if the mileage with the Metzelers is half the Dunlops I would never go back.
everyone always says metz or dunlops when the best tire is the avons! venoms are a proven long tread tire with an amazing rain groove in the front that metz dont have. as for air pressure it depends on the manufacture . the avons run 50 psi which gives a stiffer sidewall for cornering
x2 on the Avon Venom's. Excellent tire, especially in the wet. Never locked them up, unlike the Dunflop. Can't wait to get rid of my D's on my '07 SG and get the Venom's. Better grip is my priority compared to long lasting. You pay 20K for your bike and you're worying about changing a $150.00 tire after 5K miles? Small price to pay IMHO.
