During the July 4th weekend, the Missus and I went to Longview, 141 miles and used 2.91 gals of gas. On the return, 140 miles and 2.93 gals. It's a stock Classic, and our combined weight is about 360 lbs. The drive was a combination of open highway, small towns and rolling hills. Cruise was used whenever possible, and cruising speed was 70. The bike has 9000 miles on it.
The fuel economy seems to be getting better as the motor loosens up. The bike has never gotten below 42.

If I read this right, you're getting slightly over 80mpg???
If you saved your OEM takeoffs, you could always go back to the stock configuration. \\; Put the stock aircleaner &\\; pipes back on \\;and remove the PC III. \\; That's one way to get better mileage. \\; That or get it dyno'ed by a pro. \\;
No problem brother ,let us know how it worked out .

HD2007, Thank you and Jamie for the advise. Just come back from the garage and dropped my setting. I will run her tomorrow with my 2 riding buddies and see how she does, getting about 36 mpg right now.
Need to have \\;\\\\\\;a \\;\\\\\\;dyno tune but looking at the Woods 510 cams right now and then I'll look into a dyno.
Well, thanks for all the advice. I did what some of you advised. I went in and changed all the settings from 1750 to 3000 RPM in the 2,5, and 10. I cut them all in half. The first thing I noticed was that all the numbers were a LOT higher than some of the maps I have seen listed on HD forums - numbers like 37 and 39 in some cases. This is VERY rich and probably explains my 28 MPG... I cut all the numbers in half. I went to Madison and back - I averaged 40 MPG on 2 tanks with ZERO perceptible difference in power. Amazing. I would think that I can do a lot better. I am calling Jaime in the morning....
Jamie's maps are rich in the cruise range, not to enhance performance but to reduce heat. \\; What I've found is that using an oil cooler you can keep peak oil temps in line and increase AFR (leaner) without penalty. I'm going to do an updated rewrite as soon as they fix the forum, or if they fix it, but you can get the jist of it here by scrolling down 21 messages to mine that shows a snippet of my altered map:
Keep in mind that I have a stock TC96 (except PCIII, Rush w/FM custom baffles, and AC) and this works for me and others who've tried it. On other bikes I think it would work well, too, although it may require some tweaking. You can effect these changes without reducing performance since nothing over 20% TP is affected. My mileage is 7mpg better with this change than the original FM map, and I am not experiencing excessive heat.
I had more to offer, but the forum won't allow more than a few lines per message, and I don't have the time to futz around with this any longer. \\; Feel free to email me for more info. \\;
