I'm getting a new 8 gb Nano tomorrow. Loading it up then mounting it under the fairing in a waterprooof enclosure.
My new Sony headunit has the direct hookup with integrated controls that will also charge it. I only listen to it on the bike so need for me to mount externally. I may take it out every 3-4 months if I need to update the playlist but with 8 gigs my modest collection of tunes should be more than covered.

Gilbos is the only way to go. \\; I had mine for almost a year now really easy to install just replaces the bolts on your throttle housing. takes 1 min to install very well made!
I just bought a 2GB shuffle ipod and clip it into the cables coming off the handlebars (or you could clip it to your shirt too). \\; Easy and the shuffle costs less than buying a ipod mount for my other ipods...
