Has anyone tried adding a cable tie longways around the shell and the top plate, this would hold these two parts together even if the plastic part on the shell that the clip goes through failed ?

good idea, 'cept I'd be concerned about the composition of the cable tie material and if it will withstand submersion in the fuel with additives and ethanol in the tank. Good idea, though for the right material..

 

&nbsp\\; No beatings required BUT if your inthere putting the the wrap around it why not just replace it with the correct part?&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Just wondering.............

 

I agree, especially considering the fact that the replacement part is cheap.

 

I have the replacement part,but someone in one of the other posts on this subject said the the replacement parts have shown signs of breaking
