Hey Mack -

I have the Bassani Power Curve True Duals with the Bassani touring slip ons. They work good and sound just a little unique, so I like that. No real complaints. Not sure how they stack up for power against other True Duals, but you can see my Dyno chart on the Bagger Dyno thread on this forum.

Mack - It's a '99 Road King FI. 87HP and 94TQ. It is a mild 95" build with SS510G cams and cleaned up heads. There is more in the build. The tune is still not right, problem with the PCIII i'm using.

YOU SHOULD SPRING FOR THE SERT AND TW37 GEAR DRIVE. I AM GETTING 100 TQ WITH MY 95 WITH NO HEADWORK AND SE SLIP ONS WITH THE TW37 GEAR DRIVE. LOTS MORE THROTTLE RESPONSE TOO,THE BASSINIS DONT SEEM TO BE TOO POPULAR. I HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD A PAIR. HOW BOUT THE SOUND? ANYTHING LIKE RINEHART OR FREEDOM?

I've thought about swapping out the cams (I'm already gear drive) for some 37's. I'm trying not to get caught up with numbers. The way I look at it, would I really feel the difference between 94 ft lbs and 100? The SERT would be about $400 from what I've read and the cams another $200 - $300 with me doing the install. $700 for another 6-10 ft lbs of torque is hard for me to justify. The bike runs pretty hard. I've pulled away from guys that have bigger numbers than what I'm getting. Most of that probably has to do with my 3.37 primary gearing. The newer bikes have 3.15 (I think) gearing. I think I will leave it as is until I decide to go for more displacement (probably 106"), but then were talking some serious dollars to upgrade the M&M FI. It never ends....

As for the sound of the Bassani's, I like them. My Dad has a set of Rhineharts and they sound completely different. Never heard the Freedom pipes. The best way I could describe it is: the Rhineharts are louder overall from idle to full throttle and more harsh. Hard to describe, but hopefully you get my meaning. I describe the Bassani's as having a split personality. They are pretty quiet at idle and normal cruising. At full throtte they have a pretty good bark. I would not consider them a deep sounding pipe. There is an element to their sound I can't describe.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

I think alot of people stray away from Bassani's because of the power curve. I personally don't care for the look s others don't either.

Is there a site anywhere that has sound samples of the different pipes.

I agree the looks are not for everyone. I think the other part that makes them less attractive is the price. Both the Rhineharts and the V&H systems are hundreds less that Bassani. If they weren't on the bike when I bought it, I probably would not have spent the extra money on them.
