Just got my SG back from the dealer. They installed the new injectors. I asked if they also installed the download to map the new injectors, they said they had my bike on the dyno for 2 hours and it's running strong, gained 2 more horse (now 76HP) with a SERT it's not neccessary to install the software. I am sceptical, I get the feeling this is so new they don't know what they are doing yet. I'm thinking it's like loading a driver into your computer when installing a new device.
I have been laid up with flu this past week and on top of that I threw my back out while having a coughing fit! So, needless to say I have not taken the bike on a test drive. I'll offer a report as soon as I can.
I did notice a red flag. When they delivered the bike they rolled it out of the trailer and had to start it up inoder to get it into my garage. I noticed a quick pop and the exhaust had a different smell, like it was running rich.
Won't this be a hoot if it is. Going from one extreme to the other. The only way to know is to get on and ride it. I'll keep you posted.
Injectors installed for about two weeks now. Dealer told me the download is only for bikes that have certain SE upgrades as stated on the service bulletin. Bike runs fine since the change.
Injectors were changed out and bike still ran into heat managment problems and would eventually stall, dealer put the new software map in and now NO MORE HEAT PROBLEMS!!! I sit in traffic without worries of stalling anymore.
I was able to look from the left side of the engine, and read 25 degree right on the injectors, you'll need a flashlight.
Back up to my post, you'll see that my brothers bike was built on 2/15/06 and it has the new injectors,
so your's should be fine also.
i was having the same problems with decel popping and hard cold starts..so i went to my dealer (service) with it and he said hat they would not replace them just because i had those symptoms and they would have to diagnose the problem for me to be a warranty covered item. so i went to parts and ordered the injectors. i told the parts guy that i had a dyno appointment on 3-24-06 and i didn't want to have the bike dynod with the smaller injectors and then have to have it redone with the cvo injectors. so long story short i am not very happy with my dealer at this time. i've spent about 40,000 in that shop this past year and they(service) treat me like i'm some sort of moron...!!! i picked up the injectors and came home and installed them and what a difference!!! no more stalling and little to none on the decel popping!!!! it feels like a completely different bike!it feels like it has much more power also, i'm assuming do to the larger flow injector. too bad gover harley davidson is too stupid to realize that customer satisfaction should be their number one priority.....
Personally, I would not have done the same as you did. I would have insisted that they take care of the injector issue. There are other dealers out there that would have taken care of this. I had to play the flow chart game with my dealer to get them to change the injectors. The injectors are in, and I just need to get the bike there for them to do it. My dealer also has a Dyno on site, and I have already paid for my Dyno custom fuel map when I bought the bike. Pipes and PCIII where here in my house before I ever brought the bike home. I just need to get 400 more miles on before it hits the Dyno. Snowing here today, so no riding for me.
Spoke to the dealer today regarding the software update. They called Harley who told them it was on back order until 3-27-06. He told me he was advised not to drive it until the new software was installed. They are keeping the bike until it is received, so I will be without for 1 more week at least.
