I just put the Mustang backrest on my 07 SG. Very nice. It folds forward so getting on & off is not an issue.

So.....whats the verdict? Is it a Mustang or HD backrest? How much difference is there in price? What make is more user friendly? I been thinking on adding a rider back rest to my 08' SG, and a small passenger one for my GF's comfort. The thing is that I would only use them for the long hauls, so I would like mine to have a quick detach option....and have the adjustable feature.

I have the adjustable and would not ride without it.

Default Drivers backrest suggestions

I have an 08 ultra and I like the backrest for extra support. Some advice if you ride 2 up. Get a narrow one. A wide backrest will cause discomfort on the inner thighs of the rider.

I have the non adjustable with my sundowner, there is enough adjustment in it to suit me perfectly, but whatever you get,you will love it and probably will never take it off.

I like the Mustang backrest better than the HD, and they work on HD seats too.

The mustang is very easy to remove from the bike.

I use mrs. deere's thighs as my back rest. You fellas with your skinny little wifes have to spend $250 for a back rest.

The rider backrest from HD is one of the best improvements I made on my 07 FLHTC. I purchased the adjustable for $200 and bent the bar about 30 degrees for it to recline a little bit more....its like riding on a lazyboy.

Thumbs up

Have had the HD adjustable riders backrest on my last 2 HD, RG then EG.
Best addition you can make, wouldn't be without one now.
