Please tell me your bike didnt have the ABS option. Its in cases exactly like this where having the ABS may have saved you some down time. I didnt opt for it on my 08' SG, but then I almost NEVER ride in crappy weather, and when and if I do I am 110% on point.
Do you think there is anything you could attribute the incident to.....say worn tires....or a bit too tight a grip on the front binder?
In any case your OK.....thats what counts. No busted bones or nothing. You will be able to ride again in a short time.
Well I hope the bike aint too bad, and I hope you can get it fixed quickly, get it back on the road, and have the insurance co pay for it all. Good luck with everything. I wish I could do more for you......going down sucks royally.
Thanks for the concern. I do have ABS on the front but, It happened so quick, I don't think I used the front brake. The thing that sucks is that I was comming home from the dealer because they were fixing the saddle bag lock. I didn't know it was going to rain or I would have waited until another time. I've been caught in the rain before but, if I know it's going to rain I stay home. I know some people are pretty comfortable in the rain but I am not. I beleive that I was hurrying to get home because I was only about two miles away and I just screwed up. I can't blame anyone or anything but myself. Hopefully, a leson learned. I'm just glad I am still alive to tell the story. It could have been much worse. I really beleive that by steering the bike between the car and the curb saved me some downtime. I am goint to look at the scoot this morning to see how bad it is. I hope to get back to riding as soon as I can get it fixed. I am going to ask the insurance company to rent one for me.
Thanks for posting that, allowing ourselves to take our eyes off the road can lead to problems.Your the 2nd example I've read reminding me of that this year, but I'm sure lots of other accidents were caused in a similar manner but the riders were just not going to admit it.
Eyes on the road, not on the cute girls on the sidewalk!!
Glad your ok......taking your eyes off the road in front of you is always risky,,,especially in the rain,,,just be thankful that it wasnt worse,,hope you have a speedy recovery..
scoots can be fixed. Glad you are OK and thanks for posting this. It is helpful for all of us to read the events. I also tend to "look back" at these foolish folks. Heal quickly.
