You are limited by your needs only. I don't use 1 much so i bought a cheapo and a handlebar mount off ebay. works for me.

Check out the ZUMO 450. Same as the 550 except no bluetooth and lower price.

Have owned several GPS units, all Garmins. Garmin has the best customer service around so I'll stay with them.
I've owned 2610, 2720, Quest, Quest II, and now the Zumo 550.
For motorcycle use there are a few "must have" things.
Waterproof / all do
Route planning / all do
readable screen in sunlight / all do
touch screen / Quest does not, all others do
MP3, XM, Traffic, Weather / only Zumo
Text to speech / Zumo and 2720
no hard drive / 2610 uses CF card / others have flash drives, more stable in MC environment.

All and all the 2610 and 2720 were and are great GPS units, I prefer the 2720 over the 2610 because of the Text to Speech and all of USA is preloaded. The Quest units screens are too small for my old eyes. Best is the Zumo, but it's expensive.
If I were buying one for general use, it would be the 2720. Great unit, touch screen, text to speech, down loadable routes from mapsource ( 50) able to hold 500 waypoints.
You can download Points of interest, such as all the HD dealers, National Parks, restaurants, etc....not available with the Nuvi series....
Check around, some good deals can be had on eBay and off some forums.
Make sure any unit comes with UNLOCK code, mapsource, cables and chargers, although the cables, chargers mounts etc can be bought....

If i am not mistaken the Nuvi series will accept POI downloads, Specifically the 350 series. that is the one I am looking at and i believe it will accept them. I have a 2610 and it is a great unit but it will not accept POI downloads
