A quick explanation; I can get a decent deal on a new 08 Road King with ABS, including a trade of my 07 Fatboy. I can get almost as good a deal on an 08 RKC in the Gold and black color, but this bike does not have ABS. I can get a less decent trade deal on an 09. The 08 RK is a nice looking bike. The 08 RKC is a primo looking bike, but it lacks ABS. To get an 09 similarly equiped is going to cost me more on price and very likely give me a lower trade allowance. Any thoughts or .02 out there?
ABS is a must have for me on the new bikes. It's the only thing that makes we think about moving to an 08 or 09. If I wasn't getting a great deal(great, not good) on an '08, I'd go with the '09. W/ABS of course.

Ditto, I wouldn't buy a new bike without ABS. For some reason, cars like to pull out right in front of me. I've had to panic stop quite a few times. Only locked up the rear once, but that resulted in a high side fall.
ABS or not, one should practice panic stops fairly often. May just save your life one day.
Maybe you can find it on youtube? But when you buy one with ABS, they give you a DVD with some demonstrations that will make it all clear as to the advantages. I was indifferent to having it, but the bike I bought just happened to have it with the other options I did want. Glad I have it now, especially after some wet rides.
I've got an '08 RKC w/ABS, ordered (and waited!) in order to get ABS. 3 months after I got it, it saved me. I'm not an experienced rider, so I think ABS helps me more. However, I believe that with all the lousy drivers in cages out there -- ABS will save you someday. I have it on my car, which has 4 wheels and a lot of aluminum and some steel around me. I would be crazy not to have it on my bike.
