I noticed that the 09's have a 2-1-2 exhaust, what does this do for aftermarket upgrade options? Does this equal the performance of a D&D 2-1 exhaust The 09 exhaust still sounds pretty lame.
If you go to Bub Exhuasts web site they say their slip-ons will bolt right up. They also indicate that they are presently working on a complete system for the '09 Baggers. I'm curious of two things. First, a 2 into 1 system should be a easy fit, but any true dual system, other then one that also travels under the frame as the stock one does is going to be difficult becuase the left side cover no longer has the notch which clearances the left header pipe of systems of '08 and earlier models.
And second. On the new 2-1-2 system, there is a catalyic converter in the collector. Is this going to hurt performance of any slip on offered. One good thing, it will please the folks of the EPA because the way I read the law (any vehicle) it's ok to alter an exhaust system "after" the convertor.......Rich
Not to Worry, the after market boys want take long to come up with a FIX for
every problem you can think of. Just give them a little time........ hdman
I haven't crawled under a new 09, but I didn't think the rear and front exhaust merged anymore. Where they meet is a new cover...I don't think they are 2-1-2 more like duals.
My dealer says my Rush off my 07 will fit....
As I see it the after market will have a ton of cat back exhaust systems for the 09 bikes in a few months, and the motor company will sell a lot of slippon mufflers. we get louder pipes and the epa smog cops will be happy.

I have, and they do. There's a cross-over pipe below and just in front of the swingarm pivot (as I recall - just took one look). But regardless of the actual position of the pipes, there's definitely a "merge".
I emailed Vance & Hines about a week ago to find out when they would have some offerings for the 2009 bikes. The response I got was "We should know all the fitments within the next 2-3 weeks. You can our website for the results".
