I just want to ask if anyone out there got the MOCO to pay for the replacement of that bracket(s) that usually fails at some point on models w/batwings?
I am assuming mine are still fine....I dont have any excess vibration to speak of, but I haven't taken off the outer fairing to check either. If one of the brackets have failed I am going to push hard to get the MOCO to pony up.....if not...oh well. I would also like to know if there is a way to beef up the bracket so it dont fail so easy in the future.
I just looked at mine on Tuesday, and I am glad to report they were fine, and my bike is far from a slouch it is ridden hard. I think your assumption is correct.
mine were broke, the RT brkt by the speaker, and the 2 blk verticle brkts were broke at the top, I want them fixed under warrenty, but they were 2 weeks behind, so I fixed them myself. The bought the right one, and the other 2, I put in 90 degree elbows at the top of the brkts, nice and steady now
Which brackets are you talking about? Hell, I've had so many things break lately, I want to take off the fairing and look. However, not sure which ones you mean. Pics would HELP!
A buddy of mine had both of his break right at the fairing on his 06'. We used some aluminum strap, bent them at a 90, drilled one hole for the mounting screw and 2 holes into the feiring bracket and fixed them. Better than new. The brackets are $46 each and look like they might be a pain to replace. T.
I just got my bike back from the Dealer (2007 FLHT) had both upright brackets and one to right speaker broken was covered under the factory warranty. I also asked and he states that they are covered under the extended warranty if you have one. That would be $50.00 co pay for the repair the new brackets are around $82.00 for the four and they charge 2.5 hours labor ( my dealer is $85.00 per hour) so I would say that would be a good deal if you have the warranty. I have now gone to Home Depot and picked up some small "L" brackets and will place these on the inner side of the factory bracket (Drilled to match) ten add a couple of pop rivets to keep them attached to the factory units.
