It's an "easy" fix. You can buy the new brackets from the stealer
or if you have a friend with a welder you could fix the old one or solder
a piece of metal to the bracket itself.

Figures HD would use the cheapest/lightest metal on the face of the earth
for a part like this. Maybe the metric bikes got it right by using bamboo!

them little brass inserts that the winshield screws screw into can come loose also.. Epoxy works good when this happens.

Just started doing the same on my 2007 FLHX after 20,000 miles. Took off outer fairing and nothing was broken or cracked or loose. Will check motor mounts but not sure what to look for with them. Anyone know?

I was told that with the motor running you should be able to fit a business card between the rubber and the metal at the top of the mount but I am not really sure. Mine was obvious that something was wrong.
I fixed those damn brass inserts until I could not get the epoxy to hold them any more, I think it was because my motor mount was collapsed. I finally got some brass inserts for wood that has really course threads on the outside, heated them up really good and screwed/melted them into place, so far it has worked like a charm. I have a new mount on order.

I have 17K miles on my 07 Ultra and over the last couple days noticed a little more vibration than "normal" on the right side. After reading all the posts about broken brackets I decided to see for myself.

Sure enough. The right bracket is broken at the bend as everyone has described. So, I'm off to my dealer on Friday to have it repaired under warranty.

Thanks to all for the great information on this forum.
