I know you guys are sold on swapping rotors and such. But, I think you are wasting your money. I, and many others have simply switched to aftermarket pads (Lyndall Z) and have had the noise problem dissapear. Its that simple. No goo crap, no expensive rotors, etc. Just a pad change. Problem gone.

Good luck.

All in all, I feel I should not have to buy any of this stuff to cure the nasty noise, but I did go ahead yesterday and ordered the new Lyndall Z pads. For what I paid for a new SG I should not have to deal with this. HD should make it right, and put pads and rotors on the bike that do not make this noise.

It sure seems like a quality issue with HD, and they should make it right. I will pay the $100.00 for the pads, and hope that the noise goes away. That way it will save me the many trips back to the dealer and allow more riding time for me.

I agree - just change out the junk stock pads and get some better aftermarket pads, which will work better anyways.

I tried everything on my '05 Ultra to cure the front brake squeal including switching to Lyndall Z pads, applying "Disk Brake Quiet" to the back of the pads, and frequent cleaning of the calipers with Brake Kleen. Nothing worked for very long. The only cure was to install floating rotors. 5000 miles later and still no squeal. Wish I had done it sooner.

I agree. You spend 20K on a bike and you have to deal with this ****. It isn't right. However, it is what it is. So, we have to deal with it. Thats why sites like this are so valuable. We all learn from each other how to deal with this stuff the best way.

Good Luck.

My dealer used silicone. Worked like a charm. I am installing the black floating rotors but thats for looks
If you use floating rotors you won't need to use the silicone, floating rotors=no squeal
Yep I knew that... The dealer was trying to get HD to credit me the money for new rotors and they came across the fix. I bought the floating rotors because I liked the look...
