It's not really relevant to the thread, but the fuel gauge on my 2008 road glide is spot-on accurate. Whenever I change some performance part on my bike, I can tell exactly what my fuel mileage is by how many miles are on the odometer when the low fuel light comes on. If I'm getting 42 miles to the gallon, I can bet that the light will come on at 42 miles of fuel (one gallon) remaining. I thought that they were all this accurate. No brag, just piling on.
I have a new 08 RG with 6 gal tank. I can avg 254 miles to a tank. Have had the reserve gas light on with R 04 miles left to go and still made it to the pump.
My 06 runs fine on 87--not a knock or ping even riding 2 up in the summer heat. However, gas stations in the St Louis area have to use a special formulation so that might have something to do with it. I also get better mileage with gas bought locally than what I buy outside the metro area. The bottom line is you have to use what works for you. I wouldn't pay for the most expensive gas if you get the same performance with a lower grade.
