I have an 07 RG, front speakers only. Was in FL last week and rented an Ultra Classic. Nice ride. My wife loved having the rear speakers. Says she has a hard time hearing the radio on my RG. I did not think it would be a big deal but really liked the rear speakers too. Cruise is a must on the long hauls.
Get the Ultra !! I'm 6'3" and have pegs on the crash bar and am able to stretch out easily. For a little more leg room you can always get a seat that sets you back just a little (Corbin). I've always had EGC's in the past and the dealer made me a great deal on this 08 Ultra and I'm loving it. The cruise & lowers are nice.
Definitely buy the Ultra w/ABS. Cruse on Ultra ultra accurate. Leg fairings wonderful for keeping large insects off your legs, and highway pegs attach outside of them anyway on the crash bars. The tour pack can carry two helmets, or two sacks of groceries. I don't use the radio much, so can't comment on the rear speakers being great, but, I am sure they would be for the passenger. they have remote controls for the radio built into the passenger seat-back. Buy the Ultra, and get ABS.
I have an 08 EG Classic with cruise. I have taken two 5K mile trips this year.
The cruise is one option that I would put on my must have list. The second option is the adjustable back rest. The back rest eliminated my pain between the shoulder blades.
The Classic was a compromise for me. I really wanted the Standard. I liked its more naked looks. My wife wanted a back rest with arms.
IMO, rear speakers are for the passenger. You have no passenger, therefore there is no need for the rear speakers.
I ride with Kevlar chaps. They keep the bugs out of my jeans. I don't need the ugly lowers standard on the Ultra.
The rear speakers are angled so you the rider will definitely hear them. I upgraded them to J and M and it made a huge difference.
Also, as others have said, the cruise is "priceless". In addition, the lights on the tourpak are nice (ultra) for visibility. The only feature I don't use on the Ultra is the intercom or CB....Maybe one day, but for now I don't.
