I put the kit on my bike. It does make it sound nicer, more of a stereo affect and makes the pipes even in appearance.(carbon build up even on both sides as compared to stock) The install went pretty easy, getting the stock pipes off took longer than putting the kit on. I am happy with it for now until I get the fatcat.
I put the kit on my '01 RKC. The worst part was removing the factory exhaust bolts (quite seized up, even let sit overnight with PB Blaster). Anyway, I Love It!! Reduced the heat from the right thigh area. Love the sound. Other friends thought I changed out my entire exhaust from the sound. I lost a little low end torque, but nothing compared to the heat relief.
If the true duals were any good, Harley would offer them in their catalog. There is a reason Harley uses the crossover pipe, and it ain't for looks.
Interestingly, every NASCAR car uses a crossover pipe.
Sound? Sucks compared to a bike with a good set of slip-ons. I almost have to think that most people go with them because they think the name sounds cool............TRUE DUALS........say it...........it does sound cool. The fact is the only thing they give you is a loss of low end torque. Now if sound and performance is what you are looking for, go to 2-1, like Harley did on the '09's.
I installed it on mine. Its not a hard install, just takes a little time. I don't notice any performance difference, but it sure sounds good. I'm not completely satisfied with reusing the heat shields. The kit should come with a new one. The tru duals did eliminate the decel pop I had after my stage 1 setup.
