Purchased and serviced at SouthEast HD in Bedford. The Sales end was fine, pretty nice guys. I will be taking it to Century in Medina for any other issues I may have for service. I also have heard some possitive reports from the Avon Dealerships service.
I also forgot to mention that I had them install the rear passenger backrest docking system. I dont have the right tools to do it now and I know from my 95' softail how everything is impacted tight. I noticed when cleaning it that the right side cover between the fender and the bag is dinged up on the top edge. Not bad but its there.
Lessoned learned, I feel violated. I will be investing in some tools and a good service manual over time. Never needed it other than the basics with my 92' sporty or 95' softail, or any of the jap bikes I have or had. Hopefully this 08' will be just as dependable.
Sounds like you need to find a Dealer who appreciates your business. The clutch was definately out of adjustment but there is no excuse for not explaining the service and then giving you back a dirty bike. My dealer is way more professional than that. Know what, if he wasn't, we'd have a talk!
I work at a dealership and noticed quite a few dont wash bikes, because alot of people accuse them of scratchs and stuff. Around here in New Hampshire, were one of the few that actually detail a bike after a major service. I cant belive the rest though...It does sound like your Clutch was way out of adjustment. Weve actually had ALOT of 08's come in with polar opposite symptoms. Cluch slips and it gets way to hot without the heat management coming on....
>>>I tell him thanks and I notice the bike creaping forward off the kickstand....I drop my smoke and grab the bike just before the point of no return.
i'm thinking that you got hit with the famous harley psych out there. if you look at your jiffy stand, there is a large tab that fits in a slot. it has some play in it but it isn't going anywhere. but it will freak you out, even if you know its there.
but there is no excuse for giving you back a dirty bike, and not answering your questions to your satisfaction. but you have to remember to that sometimes the simplest answers are the best. it could be that your new cable had just stretched out making your clutch way out of adjustment. best way to test this is to ride it and see if it happens again. (plus you could check the adjustment yourself, it isn't hard)
what concerns me is the heat management kicking in after 5 mins, that seems way too early to me
