When I was making my front end upgrades I was addressed with the same question. Even different people at the same dealership would give me two different answers. So what my final decission was to keep dual rotors but to still keep an awesome apperence I did the chrome caliper and lower forkslide exchange. I think it looks great without comprimze.

checked out a lot of single disk baggers in myrtle last fall, they look awesome with only one rotor, but with 18 or 21" wheels, you can see the wheel through the rotors pretty well. so i just decided it was safer to use em both, i got no regrets! good luck

I'm with the majority here. I'm not about to sacrifice my safety or ability to stop when needed for added looks. The MoCo put two rotors, two calipers and two sets of pads there for a reason and I will never challenge that.

mikeisglidn - I second Bryan TTM Seeing your wheels over and over are the reason for me stepping up and buying some chrome hoops. Great looking setup you have there!

I'd like to be a fly on the wall in an engineers meeting at HD after one of em mentioned reading this post on this forum.

With all due respect, this seems like an amazingly bad idea to me. Yes it's done, but so are lots of things that may get you killed. If you decide to to this, consider at least improving the half of the brakes that you have left with a floating rotor, quality pads, upgraded caliper, the correct volume master cylinder for one caliper etc. Good luck.

I too would think its a bad idea, but it's your bike and your butt.
FWIW........Iam planning on upgrading [u]both[/b] of my front rotors, calipers, brake lines and master cylinder

It can be done, providing that you are intending on "upgrading" the performance of the (single) front brake system. It will be expensive, but a necessity to compensate for removing the other rotor on the established double brake system. To slow/stop the heavy beast, suggest going with a full floating rotor, 6-piston caliper brake setup and stainless steel brake line. You will now have both the improved cosmetic appearance as well as performance. Good luck -

I agree. Wait long enough and someone will come up with the right answer.
