Default Removing one rotor on front.

I have seen several of the big touring bikes with one of the front rotors removed to improve the appearance of the machine. I talked to one vendor at Daytona who had done it to all of his show bikes. I asked him how much stopping power was lost. He told me that he could still stand it on the front wheel when neccesary. I talked to my HD dealer and he said that you should never remove one because of torque issues. I am wanting to buy some wheels that are worth showing and would like to make a calculated decision on this issue. Anyone with experience regarding this?

No experience aside from knowing that with 700+ lbs behind it I would want both calipers upfront for max stopping power. If it's just a show bike then who cares but in real world I would think you would want all the stopping power available.

If you like it, I say go for it. That open 21" wheel sure has the look!

I call BS here. I can tell you from personal expierance (sp) that the front end on a Fatboy, Street Glide, and a Road King will all lock the front wheel up and not lift the rear end, garanteed. If you are trying to get the rear wheel of the ground maybe, but I still doubt it.

R U Nuts?? The bike stops like crap already, and you want to cut the breaking power in half??? Remind me not to ride in front of you.

O.K. I take back the nuts stuff. Look at PM or another quality brake company and buy some chromed, or painted disks, and some chrome calipers.

Ageed on this, man that is where all the braking comes from. you can still have a sick look with twin rotors IMO

Have one disc on the '93 (from the factory). I need a half a football field to get her stopped. With the SG she stops a whole lot better. Actually I was thinking about putting a second brake set up on softail.

I personally wouldn't do it, but if you do upgrade the brakes and also change out to StainlessSteel Brakelines they make a BIG difference from the POS rubber lines.
