Kind of hard to tell a guy\gal that there HD that they invested $40,000.00 in over the last 5 years is only worth $9,000.00. (or so)
That's where so many people get misled. Stocks, bonds, real estate, etc., are investments. Harleys, Hot Rods, go fast boats, etc. are toys, and as such, take a nose dive in value pretty quickly. The guy that dumps 40k in his bike surely realizes that he could never possibly recoup even half of that on resale. We see it every year at the Barrett Jackson Auctions, where, time after time, we hear the announcer say "What a buy........it would cost twice that to build one".

I just sold this 2004 RK Custom for $25,500.00 Sometimes you just get lucky. It had 12,000 miles on it.
Take a look at my ad in Craigs List, ad number 801294098...I get call's just about everyday, offer's have been close but because I don't really need to sell, I'm holding out for my price. Any chance?......Rich
I think it really depends on what part of the country you are in. In my area dealers never come off MSRP an many add $1000-$1,500 for set up. Put that all together and the used bike price can hold up a bit, especially at the dealer.
Just over 16K miles. It was flawless and I took very good care of it. I bought it used just at 5K miles still under waranty and have around 18K into it. I feel I did ok after owning it a couple years and in todays economy.
