Default broken fairing mounts

I took the fairing cover off of my 06 street glide to move some wires for my gps. I had observed that my fairing had seemed to be shaking more than normal also. Both of the fairing brackets were broken on the upper part of the fairing. I called the dealer today to make an appointment to have them fixed. My bike is out of warranty but I do have the extended warrranty and they said it should cover that minus 50 bucks. I know I have read about other people having their fairing brackets break. Does anyone know if Harley has a service bulletin or recall on them.

No recall or bulletin on the mounts. Very poor/weak design and they seem to keep breaking for many. Most end up applying an "L" bracket to the stock piece and fixing it that way. It has been discussed on this site, try doing a search for more info. Have you used your extended warranty before for anything? I only ask because I have heard that if you don't use it, you can get your money back at the end of the term. It would be a shame to use it for a $50 repair. They are not very expensive to buy and very easy to install or you could just fix your broken ones and save the warranty for a more serious issue should you need it.
JMO....

BTW: I assume you are talking about the horizontal brackets that attach to the speaker mounts on one end?

My neighbor just had all the fairing brackets o his 07 SG replaced. Only one was still intact. Replaced under original warranty.

I took mine off and had a small weld put in the weak area, now they are stronger than ever.
