I am having a couple of issues with my 05 Custom. I am still running with a stock engine and pipes,no up-grades yet.
In the pass week or two the bike has developed a couple of problems.
1. when I am starting out in first gear, the bike will hesitate or jerk. the best way to describe it, is that it feels like the bike is running out of gas, or that feeling you got when you first learned how to drive a stick shift car.
2. sometimes when I am running around 40-50 mph and hit a bump, or uneven spot in the road the bike will hesitate, kind of throw me forward a bit, then I hear a sound like the bike going into gear and it is normal again. This whole thing takes about a second or two.
3. is one we all have, the brake squeal. has anyone been able to get their dealer to fit it?
I'm one of the lucky ones so far (knock on wood) w/o any EFI demons. Once in a while when coming to a stop & pulling in the clutch mine would threaten to stall. I put 92 octane gas in it today and didn't have the issue.
My front brake has been obnoxious since the bike rolled out of the showroom. I'm going to have the tech address it at the 1st service. I hate the noise so much that I do most of my stops w/ the rear brake & the engine compression.
If your bike is EFI it sounds like a sensor problem. Take it to the dealer and see if it trapped a code. Sometimes the brake squeel can be corrected by a knowledgable tech taking his time to align your forks properly.
Just got the bike back, it was a sensor issue, Vern, you hit it right on the mark. They switched the brake rotors to stop the squeal. So far no sound......I kind of miss it, it was like an annoyaning friend that was always around.
