Default 16 inch wheel on 2009

Long story short...I am short. I have had to lower every bike I've ever owned. I have sat on the 09's and they road glide sits taller than my 06 did when stock. Yes the specs say they are the same but they are not. I also see that the 09's come with 17 inch fronts. Can I put 16 inch take offs from say a 08 on a 09 with or without abs.

Thanks

Chuck

The 09 Road King Classic still comes with a 16" front tire I believe. I know there is one of the King models that has a different front tire on it. So I believe that what you want to do will work.

FYI, according to the website, both RK's come with a 17" front and a 16" rear. Even with this, I've heard it's the same "size", as these 17" have a lower profile tire.

The book says that with ABS you can not change wheel size. Sensors read tire rotation and will confuse the computer. Statement in my 09 Ultra manual.
Should be ok for non ABS but would think there would be a problem with speedometer calibration. You will probably have to ask the dealer.

Yes the abs sensor problem makes sense. The dealer mech said he currently doesn't have an answer but will know in a couple weeks.

I have just ordered wheels for a 08 with ABS . Here is what you have to do
1 You need the bearing from your old wheels due to the magnets in your bearing for the ABS or you order new bearings.

2 You need to use the rotors that are on the bike due to a sensor on the rotor for the ABS.

3 The ABS sensor-spacer you will need when mounting your new wheels.

Everything else should be fine according to the dealer...

I will let you know when I ride it

just because the rim is taller it does not mean the wheel is. I dont know what the diamiter of the new v.s. old is but they likely are the same.

You will find that the different tire diameters are listed either here or on Metzlers site except for the rear new tire. I have not found that measurement and the MFG. does not provide the same quality of tire information as Metzler does but this is a guide. Hope this helps. The front tire is only a few thousands difference.

Thanks for posting that link. I see your right the tires are just about the same actual diameter. Nix that idea
