Default Time for tunes

I have finally decided to make my comute more pleasant with the addition of a radio on my bike. Currently I ride with my ipod and ear buds... both illegal (in my state) and dangerous. I would like something I can add on my bike without having to add a fairing. I don't mind the radios that attach to the windshield as long as they sound ok. Since I have not seen one in person I don't know how they sound. I would like something that will accept my ipod input as well. Any suggestions of what to get and what to stay away from? I have seen a couple of radios listed on ebay. Anyone have any experience with those guys, good or bad? Thanks and I await your replies.

Opps, forgot to mention that my bike is an '07 Road King with V&H true duals so the radio will need some kick. Thanks

I just bought an 06 Road King with Reinhart true duals and want to add a some speakers too. I road with a guy with the "Cycle Sounds" system and it sounded really good. http://www.cyclesounds.com/ They look really good too. Not intrusive at all. They are about the same size and shape as my old v-rods blinkers. They are actually made to hook up an Ipod as well. The only thing holding me back (besides the money) is I would like something with a radio tuner.

Good luck with your search

Thanks, do you know how long he has had them? I heard that those had problems and several people had complained about speakers blowing out after a short period of time.

I don't know how long he had had them. I just met him that day. I am pretty sure he said that he had them for about 6 months. They sell them at my local HD dealer. As for the reliability, I am not an expert. Hopefully someone who is running a set of speakers will chime in on this.

I don't know anything about them but Kuryakyn makes a set of speakers for you handlebars. Here's the link:

I don't know how well they sound but the price is pretty steep.

easiest way to have killer tunes is to trade that r/k for an e/g! then you have so many chioices it will make your head hurt!

Well, Wouldn't that be easy given an unlimited budget... but in the real world, strapping tunes to the RK is the way I can afford. Now to find a solution.

i have a solution to that problem...check out my website www.loudlids.com, my lids are availiable for the r/k with amps built into them, and u can hear them driving down the road, not like those small handlebar mount set-up, let me know if u have any questions... Thanks Alan

Put a CycleSound on a friends Road King and it worked Great until he got to HWY speeds. There you could not hear and sounds clearly.
If you don't mind stuff hanging on your windshield I seen these at a few Rallies and they put out enough sound there called Road Radio (on E-Bay)

Have you heard those systems in operation Pappy? That was the one I was looking at but not sure of the quality, sound, etc. I usually hate buying sound gear over the net because you can't really hear it first. I really don't mind it hanging off the windshield but would install mine with a quick disconnect plug and would also buy a spare windshield for those times when I didn't want it there. The quick disconnect also lets me ride without the windshield at all.

I don't know about the sound lids Alan. Are the speakers weatherproof? I am an all weather rider and the bike sits in the lot even on rainy days. Also where do the speaker wires go into the box? Where is the amp location and what type of input does it have? Finally, what does this system cost?
